by J Ryder be to show you your actual credit score, but you don’t have to pay any fee to access your credit report. From that you can review whether or not you have any black marks on your credit.

The FCRA, or Fair Credit Reporting Act, requires that every one of the national consumer reporting companies, and this means all three of them, Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian, must give you a free copy of the credit report that they are offering to companies who inquire about your credit. They must offer you this annually, or every twelve months.

The credit report offers information about how you are paying your bills, where you are actually living, how much behind you may be on any given bill, as well as whether you have ever been sued, have been arrested, or have filed for bankruptcy in any state. The national reporting agencies sell this information to insurers, to employers or prospective employers and also to any business that may be considering renting you a house, or offering you car or home insurance, as well as offering you employment.

You can order your credit report on the telephone or you may access it online. If you like you may also mail in for a free credit report. In many cases, those who do not have access to a computer full time believe they can not access their credit report. In order to do so through the mail, all tha tis necessary is that you request it in writing by mailing an information request.

If you want to order your free credit report on the telephone, you may do so by calling
1-877-322-8228, or by mail at Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.

It is not necessary, not will you obtain a free annual credit report by contacting any one of the credit reporting agencies on their own or from their individual sites. They do not supply credit reports in this way. They do offer free credit reports from their joint website.

Take care which sites that you use to access your credit report. In many cases, the free annual credit reporting sites are trying to hook you into a credit monitoring service. There is only one site that is government mandated to offer you your free annual credit report. In fact, many sites have been problematic in drawing in customers to their credit monitoring services and making it very difficult to cancel the service.

Pay attention to which site that you are visiting and don’t sign up for a credit monitoring service unless that is really what you are there to obtain.

What’s the Process? Most of you have probably seen those free annual credit report commercials. While mildly annoying they do let you know that the annual credit report process should not and does not actually cost you money, but that isn’t always how it works. Many credit reporting sites are asking you to sign up for a free trial of their credit reporting which isn’t free, does cost you money and requires a monthly payment and on the whole, at least according to reports about the credit reporting, is very very difficult to actually cancel. In fact, that credit reporting company is so hard to cancel that it actually compelled the government to create commercials of their own in order to combat what they seem to have felt was a company preying on people.

Your free annual credit report is just that. . . it is free. There is no cost to it but there is only one website which offers you a free annual credit report, which was built in response to the federal mandate for being able to get your credit report on a yearly basis. The free annual credit report is provided to you by the three reporting credit agencies in response to the federal government mandating them to provide you with a free credit report.

The credit report can be accessed by logging in using your social security number. Only one free credit report per year may be obtained from the free annual credit report site. More than this and you will incur some kind of payment in order to obtain your credit report yearly. ANy other credit reporting site is quite likely going to cost you money to get your credit report and along the way, you may be setting yourself up as a member to a credit reporting site that you will find very difficult to resign from.

What do you get from Free Annual Credit Report.com

The legislation that granted you the free credit report only offers you the credit report and does not offer you your actual credit score so you’re not quite sure where you stand so far as credit scores. If you aren’t looking for a loan, that is probably enough for you, but if you are, then checking the actual credit score is going to be in order. When you want to do that, there are one or two sites that offer you a viable way to do that for a small payment. Those sites are
myFico.com
Equifax.

You can normally buy your credit score from them for around fifteen dollars each if you want to determine what your credit score is.Getting your free annual credit report is a start but if you need more, at least use a reputable website to obtain your credit score.

Your credit score, in fact, any credit score is a number, or rather, it is a numerical representation of your level of credit worthiness.

Lending companies such as credit unions, banks, and stores, as well as credit card companies use your credit score to tell them whether or not you should be given credit. They evaluate the number to tell them whether or not you are a good risk for lending and whether the odds are good that you will repay the loan or credit in a timely way.

Lenders determine not only whether you will get credit, but how much credit you will get, as well as what interest rate that you will pay when you do receive credit. Today, not only banks and credit card companies are using your credit score to help them to decide if you can have service, but many other companies are too.

Today you will receive telephone service as a direct result of your credit score. The same holds true for cell phone service. Your credit score can determine whether or not you can have a cell phone and if you can, how many you are permitted to have without a very large deposit.

In addition, your car insurance may be denied or your insurance premium can be raised a significant amount by the information that is reflected on your credit report. Credit scores are kept by multiple different credit companies and each will score slightly differently, depending on the information that they have about you and your past credit history.

Lastly even many job positions today are dependent upon your credit score. The offer for your job may not be forthcoming if your credit score is not as high as another applicant’s score.

You can see why keeping your credit score healthy, when so many things are riding on it. Ensuring that your credit score is in good shape can be done fairly easily by simply using the federally guaranteed free credit reports that you are entitled to each year. Your free annual credit report can be used to determine that no one has used your credit and to ensure that there are no errors on your credit rating that could cost you a loan or other service in the future.

If you are in doubt about your credit rating, make sure that you check your free credit report annually and keep track of your credit rating.

Some of the most common questions asked about free annual credit reports are from customers who are mildly confused about the service and why it is necessary. The most common questions about credit reports and credit reporting are listed here for your convenience.

What is a Credit Disclosure or a Credit Report?

Most often called a Credit report, the credit file disclosure will give you all of the information that exists inside your credit report. It is kept by consumer reporting agencies. Traditionally, there are three of these agencies which are used by companies to determine whether or not you are credit worthy. The credit file also offers a record of anyone who has asked for information about you or how many inquiries that have been made on your credit report in any given time span. Since the credit companies use them to determine if you are credit worthy you are entitled to know what is written in your credit report.

Why Should I Review A Free Annual Credit Report?

If you are considering any kind of loan or credit use, you should always check to ensure that your credit accounts do not have negative comments or entries and to assure that you will be given the credit that you want before you apply for it. It will also help you to determine if there are credit items on the report that you do not know anything about so that you will be aware early on of identity or credit card theft.

Is My Free Annual Credit Report Really Free?

Yes. In every instance you are permitted to receive one copy per year. You are entitled to this under certain federal laws, as well as laws which are in place in some states. Only one copy may be given and further copies annually will have to be paid for.

Which States Guarantee Free Credit Reports.

As well as the federal law that gives you the right to a free credit report under the Annual Credit Report Request Service, you may also have other rights that will vary from state to state. You can under some state laws get a free credit report in addition to the federal one. The states which have a law in place about credit reports are :Colorado, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Vermont.

How Long Does It Take to Get My Credit Report

In most cases if you have a computer, you can download your free credit report online and the time span that you must wait will be no more than a few minutes.

It’s imperative that you are aware of the information contained in your credit report. This information is what is available to the companies in order to determine how credit worthy you are. You may find information about the credit available to you from several venues online. It’s possible to access this free credit information any time, day or night when you review it online.

The really good news is that it is a free annual credit report that is guaranteed to you by the government. Everyone can access one copy of their free annual credit report yearly. That does not mean you may access one from each of the three reporting credit bureaus, but one report usually contains the same information that another does.

What possible reasons might you have for reviewing your free annual credit report regularly? Particularly if you have had some past credit problems, you will want to know what’s happening with your credit report and take steps to make those corrections that you can if the report is incorrect in any way.

Many people who have suffered from an identity theft could well have stopped some of the damage by taking a look at their free annual credit report and knowing what it contained. In some cases, the credit report would have shown them the damage being done well in advance of the time they found it out. Don’t wait to review your free annual credit report until you actually believe there may be some kind of a problem. Review it regularly so that you stay apprised of any changes that may be happening.

If you’re concerned with an upcoming purchase and are in process of a home buying or buying an automobile you don’t want any surprises when it comes to getting your loan in a timely way and without hassles. Getting a home loan today can be difficult. Assessing your own credit-worthiness well before the event or before the application is always a good practice. You don’t want to wait until the last minute only to find that you’ve got one bad report, or worse still, that someone else has been using your credit and that it isn’t the best that it could be.

Keep in touch with your credit report and what it contains. Eliminate surprises when you try to apply for credit by reviewing your free annual credit report on a regular basis.

Your free annual credit report influences your ability to make major purchases, such as a home or a car, and smaller ones, such as a cell phone or a new credit card. If your credit is stellar, you’ll have low interest rates and, depending on your income, have access to loans. If your credit report tells a different story, though, it can be difficult to access items you need in your daily life. It’s bad enough if you’ve made mistakes that result in bad credit, but if there are mistakes on your credit report, you’re being punished for mistakes you didn’t make.

The best way to ensure your credit report is accurate is by getting a free credit report. Each of the three main credit reporting agencies (Equifax, TransUnion and Experian) is required by law to provide you with one free report per year. You can access your free reports by visiting annualcreditreport.com or by calling 1-877-322-8228.

To order your credit report, you will need to provide your name, any previous names used, such as a maiden name, your Social Security number, your date of birth, and your previous address if you’ve moved within the past two years.

As you order your free credit report, be cautious of scam sites. Some websites use the phrase “free report” to lure people to their website, then lure them into paying for a service. If all you want is a free credit report, make certain you are visiting the correct website.

Once you receive your credit report, review the information carefully. Each report will contain slightly different information. Your credit report will also contain instructions for how to report errors. If there’s a card listed as delinquent, for example, and you didn’t open that account, it should be reported to the credit reporting agency. Also check the status of the accounts listed to make certain the information is accurate. If a card is listed as delinquent, for example, but you’ve never missed a payment, dispute that information as well. All disputes should be made in writing, and you should keep a copy for your records.

You’re also entitled to a free credit report any time an adverse decision is made due to a credit report. For example, if you’re denied a credit card due to information from your credit report, the credit card company is required to provide you with information on how to obtain a free report from the credit reporting agency they used.

It’s important to review your credit annually. It’s free, and it can help you access the money and items you need. Don’t lose out on credit due to a mistake.

Free Annual Credit Report

It’s a sad reality that identity theft and other things are taking place every day. While many of these are online problems, some are not confined to that venue. Identity theft, as well as credit card theft is an issue that can happen at any time, to anyone.

Many companies have arisen who offer to help you to defend against identity theft and to protect your credit rating. The only hitch is that they cost a monthly fee that can be slightly exorbitant. While they do help you, it is possible to do some of those things yourself and to save some money into the bargain.

There is one way to help to combat identity theft that doesn’t cost you a single penny. Your free annual credit report can give you a good start at looking into your personal finances and making sure that your credit or your name have not been used to provide credit and fun for someone else.
In many cases, the credit that you have worked hard to build is being used without your knowledge. The reality is that in many cases, that credit theft or identity theft is being perpetrated by someone in your own family or household and you are not aware of it.
Many people feel that if they are not online or don’t purchase online for products that they want that it is not possible to get their credit information and use it. The reality is that it’s not only possible, but probable that a person or persons may have taken your credit identity and used it. It doesn’t have to happen online. In most cases, identity theft does not happen online, although most people are not aware of that.

You can find it online however, and you can sometimes identify the person who has used your identity to obtain credit just by reviewing your free annual credit report and finding out the address to which the new credit cards or checks were sent.

One of the best ways to use your free credit report is to protect yourself from identity theft. The fact is that it is a very powerful tool to use to defend yourself against stolen identity and it doesn’t cost you a penny to review your credit report online.

If you don’t do anything else this week, make it a point to take some extra time online and review your free credit report. It may be the single most important thing that you can do when it comes to protecting your identity and your credit.

Credit Score Scale

Nearly every financial decision that you will make will somehow be linked to the credit score that you have in the three major credit bureaus. That’s why it becomes very important for you to understand how your Credit Score Scale may be calculated, what can make it go up and down and what is considered a reasonable or a good credit score for you to maintain.

The major credit score that you’re going to see in use today is the FICO credit score. What the FICO does is place your credit in a three digit range that may range between 300 and 850 points. The better your credit, the higher your FICO number will be. If your FICO score is considered to be more than 720, while one which is below 600 will be considered to be very poor. The good news will be that if you have a FICO score that is over 720, your rates are not going to be a great deal different than if your scores were at 850.

The goal will be for you to put your credit score into a range that is between 700 and 850, in order to get the best possible rates. Your credit score scale should be ideally between 725 and 800 in order for you to get outstanding rates on your credit. Loans, credit cards, and other credit company offerings will be much lower when your credit scale is a little higher.

If you are able to wait, the best idea for you will be to not apply for credit until your score is a little better. You can clean up some of the smaller problems on your credit by paying off the minor issues or beginning to make payments and then waiting a month or two before you apply for the credit that you want if it is possible to do so.

The credit score scale typically runs this way:

o 720-850: Prime Credit Rating

o 700-719: Good Credit Rating

o 675-699: Moderate Credit Rating

o 620-674: Below or Sub-Prime Credit Rating

o 560-619: Poor Credit Rating

o 480-559: Extremely Poor Credit Rating

Five different things go into the credit scale which will factor into what kind of credit rating that you have. If you pay on time, that is the largest part of your credit. The payment history includes how many overdue payments you have made and if you paid off in a timely way. The amount that you ow also factors into your credit rating scale. The length of time that you have had credit is a portion of your rating, but only a very small portion. It measures about 10-15 percent of your credit rating.

The kind of credit accounts that you have also factors into the Credit Score Scale and tells your creditors how you use your credit.

Your Credit Score-Whats a Good Range.

The credit score is a system of scoring that is used by different credit companies. There are three major credit reporting agencies who use a credit score. They use this score to help them to determine whether you are going to get a loan, a home loan, or a credit card.

The credit companies will review your credit scores which are given to them by the credit reporting agencies. They will use those to determine your creditworthiness. In addition, they are going to use them in order to decide how timely your payments have been and if you pay your bills on time or promptly. In some cases, they will examine the full history as well as the recent history to decide if something such as a job loss has kept you from paying your bills. They will also find how long you have worked at y our current job, the amount of money that you make at your job, and many other factors, including your ability to pay, your willingness to pay, and any recent income changes.

Most companies have individual credit scoring methods. They are based on the experience of the creditor with you and your past. To make that system, the creditor wll weigh in on each factor that they consider to be important and then offer you a number, based on the kind of payment you are, vs the kind of risk they believe you to be.

Your credit score may range between 350 and 850. Of course the higher your credit score, the more likely that you will receive the loans and other things that you are seeking.

700 – 850 – Very Good

680 – 699 — Good

620 – 679 — Average Credit

580 – 619 — Low Range

500 – 580 — Poor Credit

300 – 499 — Bad Credit

Your credit score will be good if it is over 680, and if it is in the good range, you will get much lower credit rates than those who have a lower score. On not so great credit, you can depend on the fact that you may get higher interest rates, so prior to application for a loan, it may be in your best interests to change your credit score by cleaning up some of the smaller problems that exist.
